The effect of chloroacetophenone on chick embryos cultured in vitro.

چکیده
INTRODUCTION BRACHET'S (1950) strong emphasis on the role of—SH-containing proteins in the process of induction has stimulated a study of the interference in the normal process of morphogenesis of chick embryos by chloroacetophenone, which has been described by Beatty (1951) as a specific and irreversible —SH inhibitor. He studied the effect of chloroacetophenone on the development of embryos of Rana and Triturus employing different concentrations. Deuchar (1957) also studied the action of the same chemical on the embryos of Xenopus laevis and has recorded abnormalities mainly in the brain and the eye. In the present work oj-chloroacetophenone (CAP) commercially known as phenacyl chloride (OJ—C6H5. CO. CH2C1) was employed. The sample used was a B.D.H. product.

INTRODUCTION I N a previous paper (Lakshmi, 1962) the effects of co-chloroacetophenone (CAP), which is an irreversible —SH inhibitor, on the morphogenesis of chick embryos cultured in vitro were reported. Brachet (1950) suggested that the —SH-containing proteins might be active in induction. Rapkine & Brachet (1951) studied the effect of monoiodoacetate on the amphibian organizer and observed t...
متن کاملA Chick Embryo in-Vitro Model of Knee Morphogenesis
Background: In this feasibility study, a mechanically loaded in-vitro tissue culture model of joint morphogenesis using the isolated lower extremity of the 8 day old chick embryo was developed to assess the effects of mechanical loading on joint morphogenesis. Methods: The developed in-vitro system allows controlled flexion and extension of the chick embryonic knee with a range of motion of ...
متن کاملI-19: Surrogate Egg Shell Culture for The Analysis of Avian Stem Cell Fate
Background: The chick embryo is a classical model to study embryonic development. However, most researchers have not studied the effect of embryonic manipulation on chick hatchability. To determine the effect of egg orientation and type of sealing film on the hatchability of cultured embryos, and to determine the fate of adulte stem cells injected into the blastoderm. Materials and Methods: Win...
متن کاملThe Effect of chick Embryonic Somites on Neural Rosette Formation in Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells
purpose: The aim of the present study is to understand if EBs can generate neural rosette upon co-culture with chick embryo somites. Materials and Methods: The mouse ES cells, line Royan Bl, were cultured in hanging drops to induce embryoid bodies (EBs) formation. Somites were isolated from the chick embryos and then embedded in alginate solution. Finally, alginate beads containing somites were...
متن کاملA study of the effects of colchicine on the process of morphogenesis and induction in chick embryos.
The importance of sulfhydryl groups in the process of morphogenesis and induction has been discussed by several workers (Rapkine & Brachet, 1951; Seilern-Aspang, 1959; Brachet, 1960; Pohl & Quertier, 1963; Brachet, 1964). Lakshmi (1962a, b) studied the effects of chloroacetophenone on the development of chick embryos and emphasized the importance of sulfhydryl groups in morphogenesis and induct...
